Shipping large or heavy items for your business can be challenging and can get expensive quickly if you’re not aware of your options. Sometimes you may not know what the couriers even consider a heavy or large shipment.
What Exactly Is Considered A Large Or Heavy Box?
There’s no universally recognized description of what is regarded as a “large package or heavy package”. Every carrier defines this term differently.
It is important to know the maximum shipping size and weight limits of your shipments to avoid overage charges. Always check with the courier or freight company of your choice because exceeding package weight and dimension limits will result in additional charges that are typically quite expensive. If your cargo is large, you also want to make sure they are sending the correct modes of transportation!
What Are The Shipping Options For Large, Heavy Items?
At Select Delivery Systems, we always have options! You can ship with us in one of two ways:
- Courier service: When shipping heavy items contact us with the weight and size of your cargo and we can let you know the best option! Courier services can fit any cargo that can fit into a delivery van. For items that exceed the courier limits, we always have our trucking service.
- Trucking services: when your shipment is too large to travel via courier, Select Delivery Systems services can arrange for your cargo for less-than-truckload (LTL) and full-truckload (FTL) shipments. No shipment is too big or too small, and we cover all of Alberta!
